We warmly invite teams from Taylors Lakes Basketball Club to participate in the Eltham section of the 2019 Eltham-Dandenong Tournament.

TOURNAMENT DATES: Friday Evening January 25th to Monday (public holiday) January 28th.

WHY BOTHER?

- The junior tournament is the largest in the world which gives us the opportunity for good grading.

- There is no upfront registration fee to pay for teams with only domestic players. Players pay $35 and spectators $10 at their first game and that is all.

- We have family friendly fixtures. We try to minimise travel. With sufficient teams in an age group we will be able in most cases to give teams some games in their area – in this case, North west venues. If multiple teams enter from the same Club we try to cluster their games together at one venue at similar times at least 50% of the time.

BUT WHAT IF NOT ENOUGH PLAYERS FROM ANY TEAM ARE AVAILABLE?

That can be the case because some players may be playing with Association VJBL players, or some players belong to different tournament age groups, or are away on holidays. But several teams from the same club can form a joint team or even borrow players from a neighbouring Club.

COACHING COMPATIBILITIES?

Yes, if a coach is taking two teams we will make the games compatible, and at least where feasible close to each other.

PLAYING ‘REP’ VJBL TEAMS?

Maybe. We have found over recent years a lot of domestic teams have defeated the lower ranked “rep VJBL” teams, and have a stronger record than they have for making finals.

AGE GROUPS – please check age dates of players with care.

Under 10 – born in 2010 or later
Under 12 – born in 2009 and 2008
Under 14 – born in 2007 and 2006
Under 16 – born in 2005 and 2004
Under 18 – born in 2003 and 2002
Under 21 – born in 2001, 2000 and 1999.
